‘Palace of the Winds’ – Final Tuesday!

I’m doing a happy dance today, and the reason, last night (Tuesday) I finished my 2nd oldest wip.

‘Palace of the Winds’  was started on January 14th last year and I picked it up and stitched on it for a total of 51 days in all.

Thanks  Jan Hicks Creates  for such a beautiful pattern.

loved stitching it, although I’ll be honest and admit that I had several visits from the frogs,  because apparently I’m naff at counting, Lol!

This was an intricate pattern, so I thought I would give Pattern Keeper a go for the first time and got great satisfaction watching the number of stitches count down from 24,908 as I marked them off.

The closer it was getting to 0, the more I wanted to stitch on it.

I finished up having 2 stitches left to complete according to the app, but I just couldn’t see where they were, so I asked for some help in the ‘Pattern Keeper’ Facebook group to see if there was an easy way to find them.

Several lovely ladies offered advice and in the end I was able to spot them, put in the final 2 stitches, and it was showing 100% stitched, so a big thank you to everyone who answered to my cry for help.

The next stop is to get it to Frames of London and find the perfect frame.

‘Palace of the Winds’ and some shopping!

As I’ve mentioned in the past, my idea of ‘Palace of the Winds Wednesdays’ has been a great success for me, given that I didn’t pick it up for some time.

As I’m getting closer to seeing a finish, I found I didn’t want to put it down.

The last time you saw it was 24th March,  when I had just completed the large semi-circle in the centre of the pattern.

I continued on with my Wednesday stitching but this last week I have been a monogamous stitcher and only worked on this one project.

Pattern Keeper tells me I’m at 92.54% and have just 1858 stitches left to stitch, so fingers crossed I will have it finished this week coming.

My Butterfly Lace Chatelaine will be my next focus for a finish because it’s my oldest wip, and it will replace Palace of the Winds on my stand.

I did a spot of online shopping this week and have had some new charts and threads in the post that  go with some of my Nashville acquisitions.

First was some beautiful Cottage Garden threads in the colour Jacaranda, to stitch another Jan Hicks chart ‘Arabesque’.

Then I got threads, fabric and the 2nd chart for the Log Cabin Christmas series, from Little House Needleworks.

And finally, I loved stitching the Sampler Bunny from La-D-Da so much, that I decided to order two more charts and the threads for them.

I have enough of the fabric used for the first bunny for one more, and I have ordered fabric from 123 stitch, which I’m still waiting for, for the second bunny, so I lots of projects to keep me going over the summer!

Well, that’s all for this week.  I hope you all have a productive week with whatever you are working on.

Happy Crafting!

Jelly Bean Jubilee – Brenda Gervais

I purchased this little book of seven charts last year and stitched a couple of the designs, so my aim this year was to finish the

rest.  But Easter is early this year and I only managed two more, leaving three for next year.

First up is Jelly Bean Garden,

I then I stitched Hop, Hop, Hippity, Hop, Hop.

Both were stitched on mystery scraps of 36ct linen from my stash and I did a floss conversion to Roxy Floss Co threads.

I’m making them into pillows, as I did with the others but at the moment I don’t seem to have the right colour trim, so I feel an on-line shop coming on, Lol!

Also, over the last couple of weeks I made a good bit of progress on ‘Palace of the Winds’, by Jan Hicks.

This is where it was when you last saw it.

And this is where I am now.

I finished filling in the semi-circle (although I have just noticed I have miss the little flower in the top right) and then went on the bring the stitching up on the right-hand side.

Last but not least for this post, if you have seen my Instagram you will already know that my weekly food shop this week through up a most surprising item.

Our local Sainsbury’s has a small ‘Habitat’ home goods section and tucked in amidst the candles, and ornaments was this small bud vase made of Mango wood.

The perfect scissor holder, right!

Happy Stitching!

Leap Year Day!!

As I’m sure you all know, today is a very special day for those born on the 29th February, because they get to celebrate their birthday on the actual date that they were born, an occurrence that only happens once every four years.

So if you are one of the lucky ones ( or unlucky, depending how you look at it) then I wish you a very happy birthday and hope you have had a wonderful day.

And seeing as today is a very special day, of course it deserves a very special new start and I had just the thing sitting in my sewing room, waiting for the right moment.

‘My Sewing Box’ , designed by Jeanette Douglas.

As you would expect from Jeanette, this is a project full of ‘mini’ projects that are crammed packed with pretty designs, specialist stitches and all stitched in beautiful, luscious colours of silks.

I have decided to start with the band sampler.

I’ve also work on ‘Palace of the Winds’ from Jan Hicks, giving it another 6 days of stitching, and almost finishing that big semi-circle near the centre.

The only other thing to report this week is a little bit of haul.

I’ve noticed recently that a few people are stitching the Dimensions Gold Collection Petites ‘Coffee Shoppe’ and as much a love the design, after the fun and games I had stitching ‘A Kiss for Santa’ last year, I said I would never stitch another petite.

So what did I go and do………..

You’ve guessed it, I went and ordered it and ‘Toy Shoppe’ too, so I now have two to stitch, Lol!

So that’s it for February.

I worked on a total of 11 projects over the month,  had 8 new starts, 5 finishes and stitched on all 29 days, so it was a fun packed month. No FFO's though this month.

Spring is just around the corner, hopefully, I’ll see you all next month.

Happy Stitching!

‘Palace of the Winds’ Wednesdays

Deciding to stitch on Palace of the Winds by Jan Hicks every Wednesday has worked out really well for me so far and I’m getting so much done.

The last time I posted about it was just over two weeks ago, when I was here

Three more days of stitching and I’m now passed the half way mark, at 51.43%, having stitched 12810 stitches.

Just 12098 stitches to go then!

I also cast on a new pair of socks, although I’m not totally happy with the yarn I’m using.

The pattern is ‘Seeing Stripes’ pattern from West Yorkshire Spinners, but I’m not convinced that this Rico, Supeba fair isle 4 ply is actually a self-striping sock yarn.

It reminds me of the fake Fair Isle cones of yarn I used to use on my knitting machine, where the changes in colour looked like multi coloured Fair Isle using just that and a main colour.

Oh well, Ill just keep going and we shall see how they turn out!

Palace of the Winds Wednesdays - First Month

Happy February all....and we have an extra day of stitching this year because it's a Leap Year!

I’m so pleased that I came up with the idea of 'Palace of the Winds Wednesdays' because it’s really working for me and I had some great progress throughout January.

Here’s where I was at the start of the month.

And this is where I am now

It’s in Pattern Keeper, so for February I’m also going to try and remember to keep a note of how many stitched I do each day too.

Here's yesterday's progress.

Sadly, the 'Chatelaine Weekender' isn't working as well for me.

I think the reason is that I’m not enjoying stitching the 1 over one butterflies, I just find them so daunting.  I promise that I won't neglect it as much as I did last year though,  because I want it to be finish.

 Happy Stitching!

12 in 24 – Ornament 1 - Christmas Love - The Little Stitcher

Despite being fairly busy, I still managed a good bit of stitching this week, working on two wips, two new starts, two finishes and an FFO.

The first thing I worked on was one of the new starts.

Last year I joined in with 12 in 2023, hosted by Carol of Stitching Dream Blogspot.
The aim was to stitch one Christmas ornament each month and it was so much fun that I decided to join in again with 12 in 2024.
This is ‘Christmas Love’ by The Little Stitcher and it was from
the 2022 Christmas Ornament Just Cross Stitch magazine.

It was such a sweet stitch, I couldn’t put it down, so  I finished it

and FFo’d it on Saturday.

1 down, 11 to go!

The next new start was tiny but a new start none-the-less.  It was my badge for the Winter Cross Stitch Camp 2024, designed by Sheri, the Colorado Cross Stitcher.

I stitched it on a scrap on mystery 36ct fabric and various thread from my stash and all I have to do now is attach it to my project bag and then decide what project I’m going to stitch for camp next month.

Two of my wips got some progress too, first was my usual Wednesday stitch, Palace of the Winds by  Jan Hicks Creates
This is where I finished last Wednesday

And this is where I am now after more stitching on the Left –hand side.  I’m just under 50% done according to Pattern Keeper.

And finally Hello Winter from Plum Street.  I was hoping that this was going to be a finish after stitching on it this week, but

I still have  one little sprig of berries and the ‘hello’ left to do, so I didn’t quite get there.

Happy Stitching!
