A Finish, A Fully Finish, A Re- Fully Finish and a Wip

This week has been mainly about finishing and the first thing I did was a spot of shopping.

I had a few things on my list, starting with fabric for backing my stitched pieces, a small round frame and also anything that I could mount things onto to.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have any luck with the frame but I did find two bargain wooden items, a soap dish for £2.50 and a Christmas star for £3.  I also found the perfect  ‘Moda’ Layer Cake, which had been reduced in price too, so all in all not a bad stash!

Shopping done, I got down to finishing my ‘ Olivia’ summer top from Rowen.
I only had to attach the sleeves and then sew the seams and finish the edging.
Sadly, my body shape is nothing like the one the model has, but nevertheless I’m pleased with the way it came out.

Now on to my stitching finishing.

‘Renew Sweetwater’ the Moda Layer Cake had the perfect design to finish, ‘Sting Like a Bee’ because it had what looked to me like tiny beehives all over it.

I got my sewing machine out and made a little pillow, crocheted a picot edging around it and then added a bee button, which was also part of my shopping stash.

Unfortunately when I had finished, I realised that I had managed to get the fabric the wrong way up but there's no way I’m going to unpick it.

Then it was time to tackle ‘Chubby Bunny’ again because I really wasn’t happy with the way I had finished it the first time round.
I had wanted to put it into a round frame but as you already know I didn’t manage to find one.  Instead I used the soap dish I had found.  I had to re-mount to stitching onto a slightly smaller circle but that wasn't a problem.  I then I edged it with some cotton braid before fitting it into the dish.

Last up is my actual stitching and I’ve only been working on the one piece this week.

This is where I left  ’A Kiss For Snowman’ from Dimensions,

and despite the trouble I had with it when I first started stitching it,  I’m really enjoying it now.  This is where I am at the moment, with mostly the background and backstitching left to do.
I have a couple of more days left to stitch on it before I have to put it down and then I’ll be picking up my next Cross Stitch Camp project on the 1st August, so don’t forget to check back to see what I’m going to be working on.   Until then……

 Happy Stitching!

Sue
