I love my hobby and I’m sure that most of you love to stitch too, but what I’m not so keen on is the finishing of pieces.
Framing is fine, because I just take them to ‘Frames of London’, buy a ready-made frame or pick one up at a charity shop, but it’s the things that aren’t going into frames that give me the most grief, especially if they require me to get my sewing machine out.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week I decided it was time to make a dent in the pile of things I have sitting here waiting to be FFO’d, or at least get as far as I could with some that are on-going projects
The first thing I FFO’d is ‘Waiting for the Harvest’ from ‘The Winds of Autumn’ book from Blackbird Designs.
I had a chalkboard pumpkin that was perfect for this.
I used a rectangle of scrapbook paper and attached the piece onto
mount board before decorating it with some buttons and flowers.
Next up it was the panels from two Sal’s that I’m working on at the moment.
I made ten little hanging
ornaments with the Jeanette Douglas ‘Mini Bouquet Sal panels. I still have two more panels for this to stitch, and when the December one is finished I’ll be able to show how they are completed.
I then went on to finish some more of the stitched panels of ‘The Joyful World Sal from The Snowflower Diaries.
Again, I still have the November and December panels to stitch and then I’m going to do three more frames to change out in Winter, Spring and Summer, so I still have quite a bit of work to do on this one.
And Finally, I couldn’t put it off any longer and got the sewing machine out.
Back in January I
started to stitch the ‘Little Sheep Virtues’ from Little House Needleworks and I was going to finish them as pillows, on 32ct linen, two over two. Then, as you
have probable seen in a previous post, I changed my mind and decided to stitch
them all in piece of fabric with ‘Sheep in the Meadow from Cottage Garden
Samplings’ in the centre and changed the linen to 36ct and worked them 1one
over two.
I still have one or
two more things that need fully finishing and I’m hoping that I can do those
over the weekend.
